Old Mac’s Caravan and Motorhome Farm Stay, Tasmania
Five kilometres from Launceston, this idyllic property includes a scenic lake for guests to use for fishing. Beginners can try their luck at hooking rainbow trout. Fly-fishing lessons, horse trail rides and riding lessons are available too. There are paddleboats and canoes for hire, and you can go strawberry picking. Carinya Station, New South Wales
Have a truly rural Australian outback experience at this family-run outback property only ten minutes’ drive from Lightning Ridge in north-western New South Wales. Sixty6 Acres, Sunshine Coast
For a luxury style escape right near the Big Pineapple, Sixty6 Acres near the town of Woombye has 93 powered sites. With the Farmhouse restaurant and bar onsite, you can have a break from cooking and pop over to grab a hot coffee in the morning and join new friends for afternoon drinks in the bar. Bunny Beach is a working farm that runs cattle and sheep, so it can accommodate big rigs, motorhomes and vans. There are plenty of day trips around the Fleurieu Peninsula – head out to Yankalilla, Normanaville, Rapid Bay and Cape Jervis for beaches, nature walks, and local history. Dog sitters are available in the area if you have your pooch and are keen to visit national parks.

Murrnong Farm, Victoria
Near Violet Town in northeastern Victoria, two hours’ drive from Melbourne, this eight-hectare farm is a lovely spot to visit for a weekend in nature. The farm contains an ancient olive grove and produces olive oil, oranges and mandarins. Produce and preserves can be purchased onsite. Violet Town is well-known for its monthly community market (second Saturday of the month) where more than 200 vendors sell fresh fruit and vegetables, arts, crafts, furniture, jewellery, plants and tools. The nearby Strathbogie ranges have multiple waterfalls, bushwalking trails and historic mining sites.
This farm stay is only for those with off-grid capacity. It does have some dry composting toilets, but there are no showers or powered sites available. The owners generously encourage visitors to collect free firewood from around the farm while they’re out and about looking at the chickens and goats.
