I fail to recall the last time I stood half naked in a forest in broad daylight. As I slip into the hot water-filled barrel, rustling leaves and birdsong become my playlist. A fluffy chocolate-brown kangaroo bounds in. Halts. And leaves.

I’m enjoying a two-hour Island Alive Forest Flow experience. My sensory introduction to Kangaroo Island/Nurrungaui began when owner Amy led me barefoot into native woodland tucked behind Island Beach, on the north-west finger of the Dudley Peninsula. Here, we paused, eyes closed, digging our toes into soft moss as she led Wim Hof Method breathwork aimed at resetting the nervous system and connecting me to the rhythm of the island.
