After years of dreaming about life on the road, Tom and Huma Busby packed up their family, hitched the caravan and set off to explore Australia while following Tom's music tour.
Before we got married, our dream was always to travel the world with our future kids while Tom played music. Somewhere along the way, life got busy and that dream kept drifting further away instead of closer. One day we kind of looked at each other and thought… If not now, then when?
So we packed up our lives, got a caravan and hit the road. Now we’re travelling Australia while Tom tours, showing our kids this incredible country and making memories we’ll talk about forever.
We’re Tom (@therealtombusby) and Huma Busby (@BusbysonTour), travelling Australia with our four kids while Tom tours the country playing music.

Tom has spent the last 20 years touring the world with his band Busby Marou and is now also touring his solo project. I was working full-time as a sales rep while also doing the mum juggle with four kids.
On paper, we had the dream life, the house, the jobs, the routine, but honestly, we barely saw each other. We realised we were spending all our time working to maintain a life we weren’t actually getting to enjoy together.
We’ve only been on the road for two months so far, which feels wild because it somehow feels like five minutes and five years at the same time. There was definitely an adjustment period, going from “holiday mode” to real life on the road, learning how to exist in a tiny space together, figuring out routines and realising you actually can’t do everything every day.
But slowly we’re finding our rhythm.
So far we’ve travelled through Tasmania and we’re heading to South Australia.
The plan is basically to follow the music. Tom has a huge Busby Marou reunion tour coming up, alongside touring his debut solo album, so we’re travelling around those shows and building our route as we go.
We’re trying to leave room for spontaneity too though, because some of the best moments have been the unplanned ones, random roadside stops, little country towns and places we’d never even heard of before.
We haven't been to many places yet, but I'm not sure if any of them can beat Tasmania.
Honestly, I cannot believe more people aren’t screaming from the rooftops about how incredible Tassie is. It feels like someone turned the saturation up on real life. The scenery is insane, the food is next level, and the people were some of the warmest we’ve ever met.
We spent four weeks there and I genuinely could have stayed forever. However, I should probably go back in the wintertime before I commit to anything. Even the rainy days felt romantic… Although it's sunny right now, ask me again when it's raining.
One of the biggest reasons we're doing this trip is to connect with people all around Australia.
Music has always brought people together, and while we're travelling, we'd love to bring some of that magic to as many communities as possible. Some of the best nights happen in places you'd never expect - a country pub, a local hall, a sports club or even a backyard full of good people.

If you'd like Tom to play in your town, or know of a venue, event or community that would love a live show, we'd love to hear from you.
Send us a message via manager@tombusby.com.au and maybe we'll see you somewhere down the road.
